1) At Virtues, we love the embodiment of togetherness that we represent through Akth, what would you say is your definition of togetherness?
– Mutual respect and appreciation is what defines togetherness for me, no matter how different we might be or however we function in life – I believe appreciating each other’s endeavors is what makes the core of our values.

2) What were those special moments of your relationship when you realised that this is what you were always looking for?
– So we dated before we got married, and during that part of our lives we discovered we have a lot of similarities in our thoughts and belief systems. Like we used to cherish our proclivities towards reading and exploring Indian history together. A great example of that is that when we had to choose our travel destination after the marriage, we cohesively decided upon Africa, manifesting our mutual interests in an indulgence of Nature and History.

3) How did the Pandemic affect your relationship and some lessons that it taught you through its course?
– I believe during the pandemic, we all were a bit shaken up – I had to return during my education in the UK. But due to my studies overseas we had already built a habit of speaking to each other virtually.
– At the end of the day, in that period taking care of each other’s mental health was really important, hence learning to communicate and being each other’s support was paramount.
– Dealing with anxiety of it all, actually helped us learn about each other a lot, and simultaneously get to know our families well too.

4) Since everyone has their own journey with fashion, how did your inclination towards this realm begin?
– I owe my love for fashion to both my maternal grandmother & mother, they were always very obsessed with their fabrics & clothing. Growing up, my mother shared what she wore during her youth and marriage, and a lot of those heirloom pieces got passed on which taught me a lot about the Indian heritage textiles and crafts.
– Even most of my shopping is incomplete until they accompany me on my shopping jaunts.
– I would say that I’m quite old school and the heirloom sarees are my go to style in a way. Even currently in my life, the Indian traditional clothing comes quite handy in work and social events; maybe later in life I will turn to wearing sarees regularly as well.

5) What was the colour palette of your wedding & how did you come up with it?
– Since I was more inclined towards exploring the importance of our cultural roots when it came to my wedding, I didn’t second guess my choice of an all Red look. Viraj Mehta (Co-Designer) really helped me finalise the tone, after many permutations with shades of pink and crimson. It genuinely helped me get into the vibe of a bride as a modern day woman as well

6) Since Studio Virtues is all about the details, what were some of the details that you inculcated in your garment as a personal touch?
– Honestly, I had not just the colour palette in my mind, but also the fact that I wanted a peacock motif, which got embedded in my Lehenga in a more beautiful way than I imagined. Not only did I get the Peacock showing its train of feathers, or doing “kala” as we call it; but also the peacocks amidst nature became the border of the garment, which really turned out quite unique. So I thoroughly enjoyed getting my outputs turning into a masterpiece at the end.
7) As you start a whole new journey, tell us what has togetherness taught you?
– So one thing apart from travel that we both love is reading. I recall an interview I saw featuring Ajay Devgn & Kajol, where they mentioned how they could be in the same room and not talk and enjoy the companionship.
– Which is something that I have come to realize, now that we spend time together in the room – reading, doing our things and – it doesn’t feel like disinterest. It’s just a healthy balance of coexistence. Which as an extrovert I believed that only talking counts as conversation, but this in fact was quite an interesting realization.
